The Water System of your RV

Many people often ask how the water system of an RV works. The water
system
in an RV allows you to go to the bathroom, take showers and provides
water cooking while you are out on the road. The water system in your RV
is very similar to the water system in your house.

The water systems in your RV and your house both need a source of potable
water supplied to them. This water source supplies water to the water heater,
the kitchen sink, bathroom sink, shower, and toilet. In your house
the waste water that goes down the sink and shower drains as well as the
waste flushed down the toilet goes into the city sewer system or a septic
tank.

Your RV has two waste water holding tanks that are similar to a septic tank.
The gray water tank collects waste water from the sinks and shower. The
black water tank collects waste from the toilet. A monitor panel in the
RV allows you to check the tank levels in the RV so you will know when they
need to be emptied.

You do need a source of potable water for your RV.
Most campgrounds will provide a potable water source to hook your RV up
to. All you need to do is connect a potable drinking hose from the water
source at the campground, to the city water inlet of the RV and you have
water supplied throughout the RV.
