Traveling With Pets
Many people choose to RV rental or actually buy an RV so that they can take
their pet on their travels with them. Many RV franchises make most of their
RV sales from pet owners. If you
are going to travel with your pet in your RV, be sure to follow these RV
travel tips.
An RV can get extremely hot or cold inside when it is not running. Always
make sure there is some type of ventilation and/or heat and air access when
your pet is inside the RV. If your pet will be left unattended for any length
of time always have fresh water available for your pet.
When driving your RV, pets should always travel in a pet carrier or crate.
There are many unforeseen dangers for an unsecured pet riding in an RV.
If you are in an RV campground, campground
pet etiquette is a must. When making RV camping reservations be sure and
ask about pets. Be considerate of other campers where your pet is concerned.
Always pick up behind your pet.
Always take your pet’s updated medical records and an updated color
photo of your pet with you. Be sure to update vaccinations
before leaving on your RV trip, and bring proof of vaccinations with you.
If your pet has any medications, bring those on your RV trip too. Take your
vets regular and emergency phone numbers with you.
Other things to bring for your pet on your RV trip are: pet
food and food and water bowls, walking leash, your pet’s collar
with identification or microchip. The pet’s ID tag should have basic
information such as your name, address and phone number. Also include travel
contact information.
It can be great to bring your pet along with you on your RV trip. Just make
sure to bring all of the necessities to ensure that both of you have a great
RV trip.
